A straight dad is fighting against gender stereotypes by wearing skirts and heels.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

When raising your children, you want to ensure they\u2019re open-minded and accepting of others. Most of us do that by explaining to our kids that all types of different people deserve love and respect. But one dad is going the extra mile.<\/p>\n

Mark Bryan, a straight father of three, shows his kids that gender stereotypes are just a social construct by wearing skirts and heels.<\/p>\n

People have been left floored by Bryan\u2019s bold stance on gendered clothing, with many offering messages of support to the father.<\/p>\n

  • One person writes: \u201cGreat, I\u2019m glad he can wear what he wants to. Shows he is self-confident. We need more people like him.\u201d<\/li>\n
  • Another adds: \u201cIt looks great! Don\u2019t know how he uses it on his day-to-day though, heels this high for sure hurt after a few hours.\u201d<\/li>\n
  • While a third agrees: \u201cThe only thing I\u2019m mad about is how I can\u2019t get my calves to look like his, haha. He looks amazing!!\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Bryan works full-time as an engineer, but is also growing his social media following \u2013 he\u2019s amassed nearly 600,000 followers on his Instagram.<\/p>\n

    He captions every outfit post: \u201cClothes and shoes do not dictate a person\u2019s s**ual orientation or gender.\u201d<\/p>\n

    In an interview with PurpleHaze, Bryan revealed his impact on others: \u201cIt became more and more evident that what I was doing on Instagram was helping so many that wanted to wear non-gender conforming clothing but were afraid to have their s**uality questioned.<\/p>\n

    \u201cI get over 100 direct messages a day on my Instagram account and a large number of them are followers that have thanked me for the courage to go out wearing something regardless of what others may think. Others still have this fear, however.\u201d<\/p>\n

    He added that he wants to \u2018des**ualize clothing\u2019 and help everyone \u2018feel comfortable\u2019 wearing what they want.<\/p>\n

    Speaking to Harper\u2019s Bazaar Australia, Bryan opened up about his new career as an influencer.<\/p>\n

    \u201cIf I have the opportunity, why not try to make some money doing it?\u201d said Bryan. \u201cBut I\u2019m also having a lot of fun.<\/p>\n

    \u201cIf you\u2019d told me I was going to do this 13 months ago, I would have just laughed and said, \u2018No freakin\u2019 way.’\u201d<\/p>\n

    He continued: \u201cSomeone sees me walking down the street, they ought to just say, \u2018Oh that\u2019s Mark and he\u2019s just wearing a pair of shoes,\u2019 instead of, \u2018That\u2019s Mark, wearing a pair of women\u2019s shoes.\u2019<\/p>\n

    \u201cWhen we get to the point where we don\u2019t attach a gender reference to an article of clothing, then that\u2019s where clothes become genderless.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Bryan told Bored Panda he\u2019s \u2018always admired\u2019 women who wear skirts and heels because of the \u2018power\u2019 they present.<\/p>\n

    He explained: \u201cTo me, clothes have no gender. I prefer skirts to dresses. Dresses don\u2019t allow me to mix the genders. I prefer a \u2018masculine\u2019 look above the waist and a non-gendered look below the waist. It\u2019s all about clothes having no gender.\u201d<\/p>\n
