Joan Taylor, a professor at King\u2019s College London, explains that men with long hair and beards often took religious vows.<\/p>\n

Joan Taylor, a Christian origins professor at King\u2019s College London, told the Daily Mail, saying, \u201cTo have long hair and a long beard signalled something in ancient Judaism \u2013 that you were keeping a special vow and not drinking wine.<\/p>\n
